Last Blog Post!!

I am so excited to tell everyone that this is my final blog post for my electronic communications class! Over looking everything that we learned in this class we learned a lot. I took Jory Burson’s electronic communications class, and i have to say that she did a good job.  Everyone in the class was always on different of levels of what they knew electronically, but in the end somehow everyone understood and did the assignment relatively well.  I have a MacBook and that is what we did most our projects and assignments on, but i had no idea what so ever that i would learn to do what i now know what to do.  I thought i knew how to do everything on the computer, especially since it is my computer, but that was definitely not the case i learned so much.  I learned how to make a slideshow using Soundslide’s. We used garageband and even made our on website using fire works, which i thought would take years for me how to understand, but i could not believe i did it! And those were just a couple of the many projects and things we learned how to use.

I liked this class because usually in classes you just study what you have to for the next text coming up and pray to God that you remember everything that you learned, but with this class the information that i learned i actually wanted to learn how to do because this is actually useful information that i will use in my everyday job that i will have.

I hope a lot of people will take Jory’s class because you actually learn in her class, unlike some of the other electronic communication’s classes that i heard did not really get to learn in their classes.  Her class is not going to be an easy A though you are really going to have to work for what grade you get, but is that not the point? So take it, you will not regret it!

Portfolio Website

This week for my Electronic Communications class we had to write about a portfolio website that we found interesting.  I looked at a couple of different websites before finding the one that i liked the best.  Alastaire Allday is a freelance copywriter from London who has from what i saw the best portfolio website.  First off when you first enter the website you see a huge picture of him, which to me it puts a picture in your head of who he is when you are reading about who he is and what he does.  I like this portfolio website because if you are going to make a website about yourself from a business stand point then you should make that website exactly like he did, which was making him sound better than anyone else, almost in a conceded kind of way.  In his portfolio website he has everything very organized, all you have to do to look at the next page is just click anywhere on the page, so you are not having to go back and forth to and from each page.  He has different pictures and work examples are being posted all over the website, which i think is great so it can give your mind something to look at other than just words.  And also this portfolio website going from all the pages, they are  all so different from the font, pictures, and even bolding the important words.  I like it because it makes your eyes wonder from the pictures to the text then back to pictures, and it made me want to keep looking through the whole website just to see what the next picture of himself is going to be.  So overall this website caught my eye the most because everything was so organized and easy to find whatever you were wanting to look at.  Also i like how he knew that he was good at his job and he was the perfect guy to do your next project, because if i was going to hire someone i would want them to have confidence in themselves.

This is a bad video because the zoom goes in and out so much and also the camera is a lso very shaky so it is hard to focus on what is going on.

16 and Dumb

This week in my Electronic Communication class she gave us a free write, so we can write about anything our little hearts desire.  Being that I am obsessed with this show and that it has been so popular over the years, I decided to write about it.  The show 16 and pregnant is so popular that it is kind of scary, and I started thinking about why?  It started off just being one new 16-year-old couple that showed every week, and that got such good ratings that it started a whole new season, entitled Teen Mom, but this time the same couple each week.  This show ran for two seasons.  Now MTV has replaced that show and replaced it with how the show 16 and Pregnant ran before, one new couple each week.  Thinking about it, I started realizing that there are a lot of young kids that are getting pregnant at a much younger age. I mean should we not as society be looking down on the fact that a girl got knocked up by her boyfriend while they were still in high school and being uneducated?  I mean lets face it, the parents of that newborn baby can not raise it like well lets just say a married, educated, balanced family would.  Babies are expensive, and if most modern families now a days cannot even afford to have and raise that baby, then I do not think a 16 year old can either. At age 16, I just started being able to date other guys, and not even alone!  Like what is happening in today’s world were kids are having sex at 15 and 16 years of age, and unprotected at that!

Picture this you are 15 years old and you are walking through a drug store or convenient store and you walk right by the aisle that has marked, “condoms” knowing in your mind that you want and should get them, but how are you supposed to just walk right up and grab them without anybody seeing?  So you look back and forth, maybe making a couple laps around the store to wait for the perfect time so that no one will see you grab them.  You grab the “protection” whatever that might be, then dash to the front where the registers are located.  Face bright as red, you lay them on the counter, and pray to god that no one you know come walking in the store.  Then with a sigh of relief you realize that you’re done with this stress.  Now being the 15 year old self that you are you probably would not want to do this very often since it is so embarrassing.  I think that is why so many kids are getting pregnant at such a young age, because they are having unprotected sex, because getting condoms can be really embarrassing.  So we have to find a way in today’s American society where it will not be embarrassing to anyone wanting to be safe for their partners and themselves to get protection.

Viral Video

I think this video went viral because it is so funny, and it was first seen on Saturday Night Live.  Justin Timberlake was one of the singers on the video so i think that helped make this video go viral.  It also tried to be recreated by tons of other people, just because of how funny it was.  And I have seen halloween costumes being made after this video, so i figure it was a very good video.  I hope everyone else thinks it is as funny as i do.

BMJ Communication

MY BIRTHDAY!!!

I’m so so excited because do you know what this weekend is?! MY 21st BIRTHdAy!!! I’m just so excited to see all my friends, and have everyone be in the same spot.  I figured i would stay in Stillwater on Friday and go out to dinner with all my friends that live here, and it just so happens that this weekend in Stillwater is homecoming, that’s right HOMECOMING!!! So go to walk around that night on Friday, which is going to each frat house and see the huge float at their house that looks like this:

And if you can believe it, this whole float is made out of tissue paper! It is crazy how much time and energy goes into OSU homecoming.  Then on Saturday i’m going to Tulsa to hang out with all the Tulsa Talons Cheerleaders, who i cheered with this summer while season was going on. They are some of the best girls i have ever met!  Well they bought me a party bus for the whole night.  I also got VIP into Pink bar.  Lets just say it’s going to be the best birthday ever! Whether were in our car or even while we’re shopping, music is consistently following us.  Music is the one thing that will always put me in a better mood, because it always feels like that one particular song is sung just for me.

Growing up, i have always listened to country.  I think most of that reason is because my parents also have listened to country while they were growing up.  There is one song that i always sung out loud and danced to when it came on, and that song was,”Shameless” by Garth Brooks.  But instead of saying, “I’m shameless, I would say, “I’m shaving” (I was little okay?) ha ha.  But STILL every time i hear that song come on the radio, i still sing it how i sung it when i was 4, just to get a little laugh.

I mostly just love how country music can relate to everyone, it is not just for cowboys and cowgirls (like most think).  Country can really relate to everyone.  Mostly I just love that there is a country song for every kind of type of mood I could be in.  Whether it is the party fun mood or me being depressed about something stupid, there is a song for that.

I can still remember the best concert I have ever went to was last year at the BOK center in Tulsa,Oklahoma.  The concert was Rascal Flatts. The opening singer was Taylor Swift.  So obviously it was the best concert just with the singers alone.  But then my dad took it one step further and ended up getting me and my two other friends/roommates front row on the floor.  I ended up getting two guitar picks, my face was shown on the big screen from the camera, a couple blown kisses.  It could easily be said to be the best day of my life.

I personal always go and buy the CD’s from the stores instead of going and burning the CD’S myself.  There are multiple reasons why, one being that burned CD’s will not work in my car.  Another being that my heart just hurts if i am illegal taking the songs off my computer.  Plus the artist will not get any of that money, that i think that rightly deserve.  I remember one of my really close friend’s sister actually got caught downloading songs illegal, and got sued, and had to pay a lot of money back.  So honestly I just think it would not be worth it.

Now do not worry, i listen to ALL types of music, and when i say all, i literally mean that.  Besides like scremo music or polka music, but that’s i think the cut off point.  I seriously could not live without music.  It makes workouts go by easier and car rides go by faster.  Whenever I do not have the words, that is when music comes in, and says exactly what i wanted to say. Kinda like a birthday card, or anniversary card would have on someone.
